  • zefrron asked: What was your favorite new place in tlos4 to write about?

I loved writing about Wonderland. I had too much fun writing a world where everyone has a bit of crazy in them. Oddly, I found it very homey.

yaaragl asked: How was writing this book different than the others? Love you❤️

While writing this book, I felt guiltier playing around with the characters because they are so closely linked to their creators. An example, many know that L. Frank Balm created the Wicked Witch of the West. With fairy-tales, most of the characters were created long before the Brothers Grimm published their takes on them, so it was easier to make my own interpretations.

oldastudyofchriscolfer-blog asked: Hey Chris, are you writing your books in chronological order or are you writing whatever chapter you're in the mood for and then putting them all together in the end?

Chronological order works best for me, so I don’t get ahead of myself!

yelenabelovea asked: Hi, in your opinion, which of the Real Housewives shows would Red fit into the best, and would she be the one who gets her own spinoff? :)

I’m not sure Red would go on the Real Housewives. She’d want the spinoff upfront. I imagine she and Lisa Vanderpump would get along, though, so I’ll say Beverly Hills.

solemnlysweartobeoverdramatic asked: Any characters based on Cooper? Like you did with Brian?

No dogs in The Land of Stories yet, but maybe soon!

pastelcolourkurt-deactivated202 asked: Hi Chris, which new character from the fourth book did you find the most interesting and fun to write? Are there any fairytale characters you would have liked to include but couldn't fit/squeeze in? Thank you! Ily😘

I loved writing stuff for Robin Hood. I always imagined he would have a big ego, so it was fun to put that twist on him. Also, the new villain Morina was fun to write for. Unlike Ezmia (the Enchantress from the second book,) Morina is just as clever as she is powerful. A dangerous combination for a witch.

chriscolfr asked: Any particular song you listened to the most while writing TLOS4? Or maybe an album or artist that was your favourite at the time?

I have a “writing playlist” of a bunch of film scores. The epic music really helps my imagination.

scatter-the-stars asked: What fairy tale where you most excited to incorporate into the series? The one you were eager to write for and explore the world of?

I wasn’t planning to like the Tin Woodman as much as I did. Once I figured out what kind of character he was, I really enjoyed writing for him.

lollipopps123456 asked: I have a second question if that's alright if Brian or cooper or both were transported into the land of stories 4 what would they do and who would they make friends with?

I have a feeling Cooper would live in the Fairy Palace where everything is happy and wonderful all the time, and Brian would join Captain Marquee and try to take over the world.

adoringlou asked: Which character are you most excited for your readers to meet?

I think they’re going to love Robin Hood!

heyjealousy09 asked: What characters are the hardest for you to write? And why?

I try not to use characters I don’t like to write about, but when writing for someone gets tough, I just imagine myself in their shoes and that helps me be creative.

bmaschka asked: How do you keep track of all the different voices when you do the audio books?

It’s not hard because they all live inside my head. Its very similar to “Inside Out.”

sistrgldenhair asked: Hi Chris! I'm going to start this question as I think everyone else will, with a big: I love you! My Land of Stories question: is there a particular character (or characters) that give you more trouble to write than others, and if so, how do work around this, or any other writer's block? My non-TLoS question: do you promise to keep singing? I adore your voice. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at your signing in NYC!

I might’ve said this already, but I try to avoid characters I can’t write for. And I hope I find some way to keep singing!

adeleox asked: If you could jump into any book, fairy tale or not, which book and story would you like to see and be a part of? - Adele ox

I would love to go into the Harry Potter books – but I couldn’t hang with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Their hobbies are far too dangerous for me. I’ll either be in the Prefect’s bathroom relaxing in the bathtub or chatting with McGonagall about cats. They can knock themselves out with all the “Voldemort business.”
